History Hall for Christianity in Korea

The History Hall for Korean Christianity is an display room which is conspicuously showing the characteristics of our museum. Through the relics related to Nestorianism that was brought to the Korean Peninsula at the period of united Silla, viewers can trace the beginning of the history of Korean Christianity and also take a look at the subjective reception and development process of Roman Catholicism and Protestantism. The Korean Christianity has specific historicity that Koreans themselves formed the religious community and further read the Bible by publishing & translating the Bible into Korean. The early period Christian relics that are in possession of the Korean Christian Museum and being displayed are becoming precious historical data informing the reception, growth developmental process of Korean Christianity.

Soongsil University and the Korean people

Soongsil History Center contains a proud history of Soongsil University for over a century. It was established by the missionary W.M. Baird of Presbyterian Church in USA in 1897. At this place visitor can look back over the history of Soongsil which executed Korea's first college education in 1906, took the lead in taking in new cultures, and voluntarily abolished school while resisting the compulsive shrine worshipping by Imperialist Japan with thoroughgoing national spirit and faithful Christian spirit.

Modernization and National Movement Hall

Visitors can have access to rare data relevant to Korean modern history at Modernization and National Movement Hall. At this place, visitors can take a look at the modern history of Korea at eye which was newly aware of the national identity while going through rapid social changes and fluctuations. Visitors can take a look at the Western science technical books & things Western, and the aspects of social changes in late period of Joseon from every sort of books by the scholars of practical science and old maps; in addtion, the data on independent movement including the Martyr An, Jung-geun's autographs make viewers feel patriotic forefathers' spirit of independence.

Archaeological Collections

Our Archaeological Collections Room is a place where visitors can look at our excellent national cultures after the prehistoric age in Korea. Comb-pattern Pottery excavated at Amsa-dong, National Treasure No. 141 Bronze Mirror excelling in its delicate geometric patterns, and National Treasure No.231-Mould for Bronze Artifacts having us informed of manufacturing process of bronze artifacts are also the pride of our museum's own. Besides, relics related to Lolang in the period of the Three States and artifacts after the period of the Three States are also drawing a lot of attention.
